STIM transformers employ a step up function of either voltage or current with special regard for medical industry applications. These transformers are typically used in neural stimulators, EEG pre-amplifiers, muscle stimulators, and pain reduction and similar devices where isolation between the patient and the high voltages potentially present are critical. STIM transformers can be designed to run in current mode or voltage mode. Key elements to the stability of a STIM transformer are inductance, leakage inductance, inter-winding capacitance, inner-winding capacitance, DCR, and ACR.
