RoHS Compliance

Bicron Electronics is committed to supplying RoHS compliant parts within the scope of the European Union Legislation to our customers by the July 1, 2006 deadline. Due to the mix of standard and custom designs manufactured for our customers, and the exemption of select industries (examples: Medical and Military) as identified by the European Union, Bicron will not implement RoHS for all of our products. As the products Bicron manufactures become RoHS compliant, the letters “EF” will be added to the Bicron part number; the EF marking will be Bicron’s confirmation that the parts are RoHS compliant. (The EF designation stands for Environmentally Friendly).
Bicron has four materials impacted by the RoHS requirement. They include lead based solder, hexavalent chromium plating, lead in PVC coated lead wire, and lead in the Bicroflex insulation/coating.
Due to the above mentioned mix of custom parts, standard parts and industry exemptions, it is the responsibility of each customer to notify Bicron of their specific RoHS compliance requirements. Depending on your requirements, the transition process could take up to four months. Extensive customer testing and evaluation may extend the four month target.
The expense of any re-qualification, design change, or design verification will be negotiated with the customer on a case by case basis. The contact point at Bicron to register your RoHS requirements is the Bicron Customer Service Department.
Compliance will be based on the information provided to Bicron by our raw material suppliers. Bicron makes no independent representations or warranties, expressed or implied, and assumes no liability in connection with the use of this information.

RoHS Compliance of Shindengen Solenoids

Shindengen Mechatronics Co., Ltd made the following statement on July 1, 2005:

We hereby inform you about RoHS regulation for our products:

1. Substance used currently and concerned RoHS regulation is HEX-chromium, which is now included in Zinc-chromate Plating. The solder on the coil part is already Lead-free.

2. Standard solenoids in the catalogue (Rotary solenoid, Push/pull solenoid, Tubular solenoid, Magnetic Latching solenoids, Open-frame solenoids, 3-position solenoids and other special solenoids) were changed to trivalent chromium at the beginning of January 2006.

Fluid Control Solenoids:
As for proportional solenoids, On-off solenoids, Valve solenoids and any other fluid control solenoids, please send us your requirement and we will inform you of the status separately.

3. Custom Parts Customers using special specification for custom solenoids currently in use, there will be no renewal as there are no articles concerning plating issues for such parts.
